What Are the Processes for Sheet Metal Processing?

Sheet metal processing is a manufacturing process widely used in various industrial fields. It mainly processes metal sheets, thin plates, strips and other materials into metal products with specific shapes, sizes and performance requirements through a series of process operations, covering many process steps.

1. Shearing process

Shearing is used to cut raw materials into the required shape and size, including mechanical shearing, laser shearing, plasma shearing, water jet shearing and other methods. Mechanical shearing is suitable for thicker plates, while laser shearing and plasma shearing are suitable for thinner materials.

2. Stamping process

Stamping is one of the commonly used processes in sheet metal processing. The raw materials are stamped with punch presses and molds to obtain the required shape and size. The stamping process has the advantages of high production efficiency, low cost and high material utilization rate. It is widely used in automobile, electronics, home appliances and other industries.

3. Bending process

Bending is to bend the material according to a predetermined angle and shape. It can be specifically done by mechanical bending, hydraulic bending, pneumatic bending, etc. Many products need to bend to obtain the required shape and structure.

4. Welding process

Welding will melt the contact parts of two or more metal parts, and then cool and solidify them into a whole to form a complete product, including arc welding, gas welding, laser welding, etc. The choice of welding method depends on the nature of the material, welding requirements and processing conditions.

5. Surface treatment process

Surface treatment can improve the corrosion resistance, aesthetics and functionality of sheet metal products. Common treatment processes include spraying, electroplating, anodizing, sandblasting, etc. These processes can bring rich colors, good texture and excellent corrosion resistance to sheet metal products.
